Sacrament of Confirmation

The preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Ann’s focuses on guiding every child toward a more intimate relationship with God and eventually receiving a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, thus awakening in each child the sense of responsibility of a Christian life and the value of belonging to the church community. The growth in the Spirit is then a lifelong journey with Christ which began at Baptism.

Our programs cover all aspects of faith necessary to prepare for the sacrament, such as explaining the full meaning of the signs, symbols, words, and actions that accompany the rite itself. A variety of resources, most importantly the Holy Scripture, are read and discussed to help the youth put to use their gifts and talents for the greater glory of God, to guide them in developing a well-formed conscience for the many choices that confront them in their lifetime. In addition, every child is led to put their faith into action as an active member in their parish and the larger community.
