Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the seven (7) Sacraments. It is an opportunity to say sorry and ask God for forgiveness when we turn our backs on Him in sin. In His abundant love and mercy, Jesus Christ forgives and blesses us with the grace to grow in virtue and holiness, thus becoming the best version of ourselves.

• In Class, the children learn the following:

1. What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation
2. The Ten Commandments as their guide in the examination of conscience
3. The steps in the Sacrament of Penance
4. Basic Prayers including the Act of Contrition
5. The Rite of Penance

• At Home:

1. It is common for children to be nervous or scared before their First Reconciliation. Therefore, parents are also asked to prepare their children at home by talking about the Sacrament that they are about to receive.
2. Share your own First Reconciliation experience and how you feel going to one now.
